It’s 7:40, your bus leaves in six minutes, and the meeting starts at eight. Somewhere between the front door and the office, one thing quietly disappears from your morning: breakfast.
We know those mornings well, and Jo & The Sisters was created for exactly that kind of mornings.
What “fast” really means in breakfast
Breakfast is the first meal of the day, and the word itself is made up of two parts: break and fast. The “fast” in breakfast has nothing to do with speed. It comes from an old English word for going without food, so breakfast literally means breaking the fast after a night without eating.
Centuries later, most of us read the word differently. We hear “fast” and think of the way we live our mornings: quickly, in motion, already thinking about the next thing on the schedule.
We’d all love a slow morning, with time to sit down, enjoy breakfast and ease into the day, but weekdays have their own rhythm. There is always somewhere to be and something waiting, so breakfast has to keep up with us.
Brunch is made for slow mornings
Brunch was born in England in the late 19th century as a playful combination of breakfast and lunch. It was created for slow Sunday mornings, when people could sleep in, take their time and let the day begin whenever they were ready. Long tables, a second coffee, eggs at noon.
That is what we love about brunch: the time you can give it. It belongs to mornings that unfold slowly, while breakfast belongs to every kind of morning, including the ones that start with a clock already counting down.
We are breakfast in motion
People sometimes call us a brunch place, and we understand why. We serve morning food, we have tables and a space where you can sit and enjoy it, but our idea has always been built around something a little different.
Picture a bakery. You walk in, choose what you need and continue on your way. Now imagine that everything on the shelves is balanced, handmade and developed in collaboration with a professional nutritionist. That comes much closer to what we do.
You come in, pick up your breakfast and, a few minutes later, you are back in the car, on the bus or at your desk, ready to get on with your day.
Some mornings leave you with ten quiet minutes to yourself, and we created a calm space for those moments too. Our Morning Club gives you a place to sit down, have your coffee and enjoy breakfast when your morning allows for it, while most of the time your breakfast simply comes with you.
Fast, with quality at the centre
A quick breakfast can still be a good breakfast. That is why we developed our menu to give you a fresh, balanced meal in just a few minutes, with the ingredients and combinations designed to keep you going well into the day.
Our menu is handmade and developed in collaboration with a professional nutritionist.
We work with trusted suppliers and carefully choose every ingredient.
Our combinations are designed to give you a balanced meal that keeps you full and gives you energy for the rest of the morning.
Good food can fit into even the busiest morning.
Built around your morning
When we choose a location, we think about the places people already pass through every day. That is why you’ll find us close to bus stations, business centres and the main routes people take on their way to work and through their morning.
The idea is simple: breakfast should fit into your routine. You can stop for a few minutes, pick up something fresh and keep going, whether you’re heading to work, a meeting or wherever the rest of your day takes you.
We’ll keep choosing future locations with the same idea in mind: places where Jo & The Sisters can become a natural part of your morning.
And on weekends?
Weekends have a different rhythm. There is more time in the morning, but many of our weekend guests are still heading somewhere, whether it’s a hike, a day at the beach, an afternoon in the park with the kids, a few hours before a barbecue or a visit to family.
Sometimes breakfast needs to give you enough energy for the trail ahead. Sometimes it is something fresh to take along for a day at the beach or in the park, and sometimes it is simply a good start before heading over to see grandpa.
The pace may be slower, but the idea stays the same: good food, ready when you are, wherever the day takes you.
A place worth returning to
Jo & The Sisters started at home, with the breakfasts Josip, Dubravka and Mia made for themselves and their kids.
That everyday need became an idea for a different kind of breakfast, one that fits the way we actually live. We put the fast back in breakfast while keeping quality, balance and good ingredients at the centre of it.
