Protein Isn’t Just a Fitness Thing

It’s for more than one kind of lifestyle

Protein is often associated with workouts, gym routines, and performance goals. But in reality, protein plays a vital role in everyone’s day, whether you exercise regularly or not.

At its core, protein is simply one of the building blocks your body needs to function well. It supports muscles, helps maintain steady energy, and contributes to feeling full and satisfied after meals. That’s why protein belongs on every breakfast table and not just in a shaker bottle.

Why protein works beyond trends

Protein helps regulate how your body uses energy throughout the day. When your breakfast includes enough protein alongside fiber, healthy fats, and whole carbohydrates, you’re more likely to:

  • stay full for longer periods

  • experience fewer energy dips

  • avoid intense mid-morning cravings

  • feel more focused and balanced

Protein isn’t just for people who want to train harder; it’s for everyone because we all need fuel to support our bodies through daily life.

No fitness required

You don’t need to be a „fitness person“ to benefit from protein. Office days, long walks, creative work, parenting, studying, traveling – all of these activities are draining and require energy, mental clarity, and physical resilience to keep the body functioning well.

Protein helps to slow down digestion and stabilize blood sugar, which is especially important for people with busy schedules or irregular eating times. It also supports everyday movement, concentration, and mood, making it relevant for essentially anyone who owns a body.

Protein meets Jo's

At Jo’s, protein is never the whole story — it’s part of a bigger picture. We believe true nourishment doesn’t come from synthetic supplements, but from thoughtfully combined whole foods. Many natural ingredients are already rich in protein, and when paired with intention, they create balanced, satisfying meals that support the body the way nature intended.

Our Snickers Protein Bowl and Raffaello Protein Bowl were developed as complete breakfasts built on real ingredients: oats, chia and ground flax seeds as a base, nuts, coconut yogurt, quality plant milks, and naturally sweet components like dates. This combination already provides a strong nutritional foundation.

The added protein is there as a complement, not a replacement. A small, considered addition that helps round out the meal and support longer-lasting energy, especially since it’s not always possible to include every protein-rich ingredient in a single bowl. It’s also a response to what our guests are asking for: breakfasts that keep them going for longer and still taste good.

A healthy breakfast in Split has always been part of what we do. It started with our Apple Protein Kick Bowl, created for mornings that need just a little extra push. From there, we continued exploring how protein could fit naturally into our menu, leading to the Raffaello Protein Bowl and Snickers Protein Bowl.

Inspired by flavors you already know and love, these bowls are reworked the Jo’s way – balanced, handmade, and thoughtfully composed. You can read more about this approach in our blog “No sugar crash, just the good stuff”, or come try them at Jo & The Sisters – Sukoisan or Jo & The Sisters – Zvonimirova. The new bowls are available at both locations.
